Django Unchained

I thought for the last post I would put a movie that I'm very excited for but one that also has a poster with great design. Quentin Tarantino's posters always seem to have that wow factor because they are very stand out images of his newest movie. I think this one is great simply for the fact that it is black and white and then it has that splash of red across it. Favorite quote from the trailer, "The name's Django...the D is silent."

Les Mis

I think this poster is very, very striking. They did a great job with advertising this poster because it is very well put together with the colors and the overall flow of the image across the page. I think the most striking thing to be is the little girls blue eyes against the dark colors in the background.

New Star Trek Poster

I think this poster for Star Trek into darkness is a great poster. It does, however, look a lot like the Dark Knight movie poster. It still works for this movie though in my opinion. I have noticed with a lot of posters that they seem to be highlighting the villans a lot like with this one.

Ipod

I have always had a fascination with the Ipod ads. I think they are very clever because they are so simple but they also get the point across very well. They always make me want to dance around with my Ipod as well haha.

New Book Cover

This is a book cover that I designed for our last project in Design/Media. I took a picture of the castle at Universal Studios in Florida last summer and I put it in Photoshop and placed a new sky behind it.  I also did a few tutorials on how to make fire and smoke to make the castle look like it was burning. Any thoughts on it?

Stimulus Tuesday

As you all have probably noticed by now I talk a lot about my job at the theater. Seeing as I have a blog for a Graphic Design class I couldn't help but talk about some bad designs as well as good ones. This ad from my theater is a bad one.
I think this could look a lot better if a few things were changed. For example the background should just be green, the money signs look a little silly and distracting. As for the yellow "pow" symbols I think the poster could do without it. All in all I think that it just needs to be redesigned completely.

McDonalds

I find this ad very amusing because of the fact that it is only November and it is a Christmas tree of fries. McDonald's ads have always caught my eye because they are almost always something silly like this, well not always.

Gossip Girl

I found these ads because I watch Gossip Girl and I hadn't ever really seen any ads for it so I thought I'd look some up. I never realized how provocative the ads for this show are. I know that TV companies are trying to appeal to different generations but I know a lot of teenagers that watch this show. I think things are getting more risque as the years go on.

Who's ready for summer already??

This is just a fast post because I can't think of anything else to do for it. So, who's ready for summer??

Classy

I'm posting this ad simply because I think the tag line is hilarious. The ad itself looks pretty good as well, it is very unified and it has a great flow to it.

Bike

This ad has a very powerful message in my opinion because when I was in New York it was crazy. Cars and pedestrians don't pay any attention to each other and this ad shows that. I think it is very effective to have the painting of the bike symbol on the car like that car just hit the person on the bike.

Eggshell

This one is really interesting because when you think of Bounty you don't typically think about it being an odd shape such as an egg. This piece does look very balanced it doesn't feel too heavy toward the bottom and it looks very unified with the repeating shapes of the broken egg shell and the egg paper towel thing really hold it together.

Law and Order

This one really caught my attention because it is a 3D billboard. I have never seen anything like this and I think it is extremely creative. Bringing in some ideas from class...this looks very balanced and unified as an advertisement and  it catches the audiences eye very well.

Funny Watch

Here's yet another ad that caught my eye. This one in particular because I was recently looking for a watch to buy for my boyfriend. This ad just made me laugh because the strap says "Try it here, the big pilot's watch." I believe that word is pilot's I'm not positive. But anyway this ad just really made me laugh so I thought I would share it.

Palm

To start this post I want to apologize for all of the random ads. These are the only things that I can think of to do for my blog  posts so there will be a few more following this one. Alright, so this ad struck me as interesting because I tend to write on my hands a lot. I saw that in the ad and was instantly curious to find out what it was about. I love the simplicity of the two words at the top too. "Chaos" and "Order" work really well along with the backgrounds of their sides. The left is very claustrophobic and the right is very neat and organized.

Music

This picture truly caught my eye because it was so weird. I didn't understand it at first because I wasn't sure why there was a tiny person in that guys ear. I finally got that it was supposed to be a headphone and the small person was Elvis Presley because that is what the guy was listening to. This ad is extremely clever in my opinion because it is out of the ordinary and people will take a second look at it.

Coffee!

This image for some reason made me think of our Graphic Design class. I think because it looks like something that a Graphic Designer would like to work with for and ad for a coffee shop. It is very homey and it gives you a sense of warmth when you look at it.
