Django Unchained

I thought for the last post I would put a movie that I'm very excited for but one that also has a poster with great design. Quentin Tarantino's posters always seem to have that wow factor because they are very stand out images of his newest movie. I think this one is great simply for the fact that it is black and white and then it has that splash of red across it. Favorite quote from the trailer, "The name's Django...the D is silent."

Les Mis

I think this poster is very, very striking. They did a great job with advertising this poster because it is very well put together with the colors and the overall flow of the image across the page. I think the most striking thing to be is the little girls blue eyes against the dark colors in the background.

New Star Trek Poster

I think this poster for Star Trek into darkness is a great poster. It does, however, look a lot like the Dark Knight movie poster. It still works for this movie though in my opinion. I have noticed with a lot of posters that they seem to be highlighting the villans a lot like with this one.

Ipod

I have always had a fascination with the Ipod ads. I think they are very clever because they are so simple but they also get the point across very well. They always make me want to dance around with my Ipod as well haha.

New Book Cover

This is a book cover that I designed for our last project in Design/Media. I took a picture of the castle at Universal Studios in Florida last summer and I put it in Photoshop and placed a new sky behind it.  I also did a few tutorials on how to make fire and smoke to make the castle look like it was burning. Any thoughts on it?

Stimulus Tuesday

As you all have probably noticed by now I talk a lot about my job at the theater. Seeing as I have a blog for a Graphic Design class I couldn't help but talk about some bad designs as well as good ones. This ad from my theater is a bad one.
I think this could look a lot better if a few things were changed. For example the background should just be green, the money signs look a little silly and distracting. As for the yellow "pow" symbols I think the poster could do without it. All in all I think that it just needs to be redesigned completely.
